The QYC Squib Class

The 19 foot two person Squib class is currently the main class sailed at the club. It is a fairly new sailing class to the Club although it has been in existence for over 40 years. The boats are constructed from fibreglass with a metal keel and  because the construction and sails are tightly controlled  the racing is very close and exciting.

These boats can be economic to own and purchase with  prices ranging from around £1500 upwards on the second hand market . They are easy to sail.

The Club would particularly welcome new Squib sailors.

There are a number of Clubs in Ireland where Squibs are raced and our neighbouring Club at Killyleagh has a new fleet.   A number of joint sailing events are organised during the season.  The club has already hosted the Irish Squib Nationals and will shortly be hosting the Irish Squib Northerns for the second time in 2014.
