Squib Racing

There is a busy sailing Calendar dedicated to Squibs currently being prepared with no
shortage of events close to home and further abroad for those keen to travel.
The UK NATIONALS are to be hosted in Ireland, in DunLoughaire.. Apparantly 100
plus boats are the normal turnout for this type of event . This will give us a rare
opportunity to be able to sail against some bignames in UK sailing. For many of us
though, the important factor is that there will be competition at every level and as they
say - it’s the taking part bit that matters.
On a more local front, we intend to keep the flag flying at the Quoile as we are to host
the NORTHERN SQUIB CHAMPIONSHIPS.
This event will run over the weekend 5th/6th June.
On a housekeeping basis, the first race of the season and the start of the first Saturday
series is QUOILE OPENING DAY 1st May so there will be a push to get as many in
the water for that date.
This year will see a welcome return of the mid week WEDNESDAY NIGHT SERIES
(Wed 12th May) as requested - despite some attempts to try and scupper it (anonymous)
Finally, the season will round off with the hotly contested and somewhat peculiar Squib
October Series and finally , finally …….for those Squibbers and Fleet groupies - the
Squib Dinner.
