The Concept

The RYA (Royal Yachting Association), through it’s affiliated clubs and organisations will again run a National Championship in Rigid Inflatable Boats (Rib’s) for juniors/youths.  There will be sixteen Regional Finals and a National Final to be held at Southampton International Boatshow in September  2006.

 

There will be two age groups 8 - 12 and 13 - 16.  The competition is open to both boys and girls.  There will be a competent adult, attached to a safety lanyard, in the boat at all times.  Each will be representing their club/organisation.

 

Local heats

Quoile heats will take place on Sunday 28 May at 14:00hrs.  Winners will go forward to the Regional Finals at RUYC, Bangor Marina on Saturday 10 June.  John Magowan is the Club Coordinator. 

 

Regional Finals

The Regional finals, sixteen in all, will be held at a Bangor Marina on 10 June, organised by Royal Ulster Yacht Club  The RYA will help the club organise the event and will attend to the logistics and administration needed to run the regional final.  The RYA will attend and support the event with two Honda powered Ribcraft to be used by the competitors.

 

National Final

The National Final will be held at Southampton International Boatshow in September 2006 and will take place in the RYA demonstration area.  The RYA will organise and co-ordinate all aspects of the competition.

 

Prizes

At the Regional finals there will be trophies and other prizes for the first, second and third places in each category.

At the National final the Ribcraft will be awarded to the winners respective club/organisation and the winner will also receive a trophy and other prizes.
