The Quoile Yacht Club caters for everyone with a sailing boat. While, by the nature of things, a lot of club effort and time goes into organising racing, most boat owners only want to potter or cruise.

This could mean enjoying preparing your boat throughout the winter and spending the summer just looking at her, an annual trip to Scotland, or something more adventurous.

We have members who have been to some weird and wonderful places (Spitzbergen?!) and others for whom Portaferry is the extent of their wanderings! The knowledge base in the club is enormous, and people love to give advice.

We welcome all types, and try to keep the rules to the bare minimum to allow a friendly co-existence for all.

The club is a popular destination for people visiting the lough, and they will give you a warm welcome if you want to visit their home port.

The club officer who can help with any problems, suggestions or queries is the former "Large Handicap" Secretary, who is now titled "Cruiser and Large Handicap Secretary", to reflect the number of members who previously had no channel of communication to the committee. If you want to organise a cruise in company, start a chart library, talk about your travels, get destination advice from others, give advice to others, organise radar courses etc., this is the person to speak to. When we become an RYA RTC all sorts of training possibilities open up. If the demand is there we could run all sorts of courses, so let your representative know what you need.
